Power System Highlights for Thursday, December 16, 2003 The CPA Electricity Advisor issues this report to note significant events or conditions of interest in the power sector. The basic daily data on the power system is available on the CPA web site. HIGHLIGHTS – Weather in Bahgdad was moderate. Hilla and Najaf Plants down due to low gas pressure. Compressor station has been restarted but no gas pressure has reached the plants yet. Problem is not known. Najaf is running one unit on stored diesel. Doura Gas Turbine continues to make 75 Mw with 3 units – gas pressure at 17 bar Note: 1 “bar” is atmospheric pressure at sea level caused by the weight of a column of air up to the edge of the atmosphere of earth. It equals 14.7 pounds per square inch. Generation : Daily System peak on 15 Dec – 2,900 MW.
