Ministry of Youth

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is the status of the Olympic Committee?

A: The status of the old Olympic Committee is dissolved and everyone with ties to it is gone.  The new Iraq Olympic Committee will be made of positive sports icons in the Iraqi athletic community.

Q:  Who are the candidates to lead the Committee?

A:  Ra'ad Hamnodi and Ahmed Radhi.  These men were the stars of the 1986 Iraq World Cup team.  They will be the first asked to stand up the new Olympic Committee.  After them, more popular and upstanding Iraqi athletes will follow.

Q: We've heard all about the Iraqi soccer teams.  What about the other sports?  Aren't they being neglected?

A:  No, neglected is not the word.  We are still in the beginning stages of the Committee and while soccer is the sport most Iraqis relate to, we will give the same attention to other Iraqi teams such as the national basketball team.

Q: Where will it be?

A: The old Ministry of Youth was completely destroyed during the bombings because they housed Uday's offices.  A new location might be the Olympic Stadium.
