Ambassador Henry Hogger, the CPA’s Governorate Coordinator for Basra officially handed over two refurbished command and control vehicles to Colonel Ra’ad Salman Majeed, head of Basra’s Fire and Civil Defence Department, at a ceremony last week.

The trucks were refurbished with the help of the CPA and will be used to coordinate the work of fire crews at major incidents.

A British Royal Air Force Chinook helicopter lifted a new electricity pylon, weighing over 5 tons, into position near Az Zubayr.

The new pylon is one of many being replaced by CPA and Coalition forces as part of a programme to improve the supply of electricity to people and businesses in the south.
